American Chopper: Australia Theme Bike

Sunday, March 16, 2008

With the Discovery Channel now winding up the American Chopper: Australia trilogy, it is now safe to reveal some pictures and information regarding the much anticipated Australia Theme Bike. Whilst here in Australia, the Teutuls were asked by Russell Crowe to build an Australian Theme Bike to be auctioned off for charity. Russell requested a shark theme but also the incorporation of Australian icons.

The trilogy ends with both Paul Sr and Jr returning to Orange County to begin work on the plans. Mikey and Vince stay in Australia to see more and gain further insight into what the bike should consist of. By the end of their journey they managed to be pulled over by police and also experience the wines this great country has to offer.

Upon returning home, the boys at OCC are all hard at work on the Australia Theme Bike for Russell. With the frame and wheels already well underway Mikey finds time to distract everyone (as usual) with some whips he has brought back from a ranch. We see the bike beginning to take shape and see the dream come true. The colour is decided upon due to the colour of outback Australia and the tank design is finalised with the tank cap being a cut-out of Australia.

As can be seen by the picture above, the final result really is something quite impressive. The shark tail exhausts, aqaurium oil tank and boomerang wheels all add to the uniquely Australian look. Some do say that the bike looks a bit tacky and could have been done better but in all respect, the boys from OCC didn't spend a great amount of time in Australia.

The final owner or the bike isn't known at this point in time. It is believed the private buyer is a collector and will remain anonymous.
